For any of you who know my husband and his love for the North Carolina Tarheels, then you know all these three words fit into his life in some way and to some extent. He is by far the biggest Tarheel fan I know, and has been since way back before it was “cool” to cheer for them. Some days I wonder if his blood is actually baby blue. When I married him I knew I might have my own college teams to cheer for, but by default I also became a follower of Roy Williams, Rameses, Franklin Street, and all that is the Tarheel Nation.
For the last few weeks our house has been in an uproar, of course about Tarheel Basketball. Daily and on multiple occasions each day I have heard about “The Big 3”, next year’s plan, and would Harrison Barnes be back or go to the NBA. The first two players of “The Big 3” Tyler Zeller and John Henson (It is crazy to me that I know them) announced that they would be back next year almost right away. But Harrison Barnes “Black Falcon” was holding out. This drove Michael INSANE. Every time I turned around he was on the Tarheel Boards, checking Twitter (yes he follows the Heels on there), and or telling me to hush as some announcer brought up Harrison’s name on TV just in case there was some little inkling that he’d be back. I swear if I had to hear the words “Black Falcon” again I was going to scream.
Today we got the news he (well for my own sanity - me too) was waiting for. Harrison “Black Falcon” Barnes will be back. Along with the rest of “The Big 3” and an awesome recruit named McAdoo. Michael can now sleep well, and we both can relax until next fall when the next Tarheel season begins. For once “He has good feelings” about this one, which I love to hear. J
So thank you “Black Falcon” for bringing peace back to our house…
Oh if only it would last. But we all know, someone, somewhere, will tweet or blog about something and it will start all over again. Love it!
