Bouncing Back from a Bad Haircut

I guess I can say I’ve been pretty lucky. I was the girl who grew up with a hairstylist for a mom and really never had to face my peers with a bad ‘do. Well maybe except for that time in the 2nd grade when she convinced me that a “Dorothy Hamill Cut” would be super cute on me. Somehow she left out that a Dorothy Hamill on my fine thin hair would mimic that of my younger brother’s bowl cut, which was far from flattering on my chubby cheeks and felt pretty stinkin’ boyish to me. But even though I didn’t like it, the cut was still done well. This is more than I can say for poor Dudley.

Before
For those of you who know our fuzzy little pooch, you know that his hair is fluffy, kinky, partly curly, and downright crazy. The wild “I just stuck my tail in the electric socket” look is part of what makes Dudley, well Dudley. So you can imagine my surprise and almost horror a few weeks ago when I picked him up from the groomer and he was SHAVED. I specifically told the groomer I wanted a trim, with just a little off to clean him up, and no matter what I wanted to keep some curl. Apparently she thought giving Dudley a “Military Buzz” was what trim meant. And the best part of it all? I still had to pay $50 bucks! Needless to say we won’t be visiting that groomer again.

After
Some of you might be thinking I’m crazy, it’s just dog hair. And yea, after the shock wore off it almost became funny. However, it was not quite as funny as Michael getting made fun of for walking his Poodle. I laughed pretty hard especially because he claimed from the beginning that having a Doodle was pretty girly in his opinion. Apparently having a Poodle is much worse.

Fortunately for Dud, and maybe Michael too, his fuzz is growing back fairly quickly. I never thought I’d care so much about my dogs ‘do but based on the pictures can you blame me? I guess on a good note at least he won’t have to go back to the groomer for a while… J
